SUMMARY:Unmasked (for boys)- Session I
DESCRIPTION:A transformative program that challenges harmful stereotypes\, online influences\, and the pressures young men face in today’s culture. Participants unpack messages from the manosphere\, media\, and peers while exploring accountability\, emotional honesty\, healthy relationships\, and gender-based violence prevention. Topics like misogyny\, online radicalization\, power dynamics\, and relationship patterns require a level of maturity\, life experience\, and emotional readiness more common in ages 16+. Young men at this stage are actively navigating dating\, identity\, independence\, and social pressures\, making it an ideal time to “unmask” harmful beliefs and learn healthier alternatives.

SUMMARY:Empowering Voices
DESCRIPTION:Empowering Voices is a trauma-informed group program for women who have experienced intimate partner violence. The program focuses on rebuilding voice\, restoring self-trust\, and reconnecting with personal identity in a safe and supportive environment. \nExperiences of abuse can impact how women see themselves\, express their needs\, and trust their instincts. Empowering Voices creates intentional space to gently explore these effects while honouring each participant’s lived experience and resilience. Through guided reflection\, group discussion\, and creative exercises\, women are supported in understanding the impact of trauma while reconnecting with their strengths\, inner wisdom\, and capacity for growth. \nParticipants have opportunities to: \n\n\nReclaim their voice and sense of agency \n\n\nStrengthen self-awareness and emotional insight \n\n\nRebuild trust in their intuition and decision-making \n\n\nExplore identity beyond experiences of harm \n\n\nConnect with others who share similar journeys \n\n\nThe program emphasizes emotional safety\, choice\, and empowerment. There is no pressure to share beyond one’s comfort level\, and participation is always guided by respect and consent. Healing is approached as a personal and non-linear process\, supported by community\, compassion\, and mutual encouragement. \nEmpowering Voices offers more than discussion — it offers connection\, validation\, and the opportunity to move forward with greater clarity\, confidence\, and self-trust.

SUMMARY:Mindful Parenting
DESCRIPTION:The Mindful Parenting Group is a 10-week program offered once per week for two hours during the Spring and Fall sessions. This program is delivered in partnership between Women’s Habitat of Etobicoke and Toronto Public Health\, combining trauma-informed support with evidence-based parenting education. \nMindful Parenting is designed to support mothers and caregivers in building confidence and strengthening their parenting skills\, particularly in the context of stress\, life transitions\, or experiences of trauma. The program creates a welcoming and non-judgmental space where caregivers can reflect\, learn\, and grow together while feeling supported by peers and facilitators. \nThroughout the 10 weeks\, participants explore: \n\n\nPositive and strengths-based parenting approaches \n\n\nEffective and respectful parent-child communication \n\n\nEmotional regulation strategies for both parents and children \n\n\nBuilding and maintaining healthy routines \n\n\nUnderstanding child development stages \n\n\nStrengthening parent-child relationships \n\n\nPractical tools for responding to challenging behaviours \n\n\nThe program acknowledges that parenting can feel overwhelming at times\, especially when navigating personal stress or past trauma. Rather than focusing on blame or perfection\, Mindful Parenting emphasizes self-compassion\, awareness\, and practical skill-building. Participants are encouraged to identify their existing strengths and build on them in ways that align with their family values and goals. \nBy the end of the program\, caregivers often report increased confidence\, improved communication with their children\, and a stronger sense of connection within their families. The group setting also fosters community\, reminding parents that they are not alone in their experiences.

SUMMARY:Empowering Communication
DESCRIPTION:Empowering Communication is an 8-week trauma-informed group program designed to support women in rebuilding healthy\, confident communication after experiences of abuse or unhealthy relationships. Trauma can deeply affect how we express ourselves\, set boundaries\, and respond to conflict. This program creates a safe\, supportive space where participants can gently explore these impacts and develop new tools for communication that feel grounded\, respectful\, and empowering. \nThroughout the program\, participants learn practical skills related to assertiveness\, boundary-setting\, conflict navigation\, and self-advocacy. Using guided discussions\, role-playing exercises\, and real-life scenarios\, women practice expressing their needs clearly while honouring their emotional and relational limits. The program also explores how trauma affects communication patterns — including people-pleasing\, avoidance\, heightened reactivity\, or difficulty trusting — and offers strategies to respond rather than react. \nParticipants build confidence in: \n\n\nIdentifying personal values and communication styles \n\n\nSetting and maintaining healthy boundaries \n\n\nManaging emotional triggers during difficult conversations \n\n\nNavigating conflict safely and constructively \n\n\nAdvocating for themselves in personal\, professional\, and community settings \n\n\nEmpowering Communication is grounded in compassion and choice. There is no pressure to share beyond one’s comfort level\, and each participant is supported at her own pace. The goal is not perfection\, but growth — helping women reclaim their voice\, strengthen their sense of agency\, and engage in relationships with clarity\, confidence\, and self-respect.
