Shelter and Outreach for Women
Housing Readiness is a monthly program designed to empower women with the knowledge, tools, and confidence needed to successfully navigate the housing system and work toward long-term housing stability.
Housing systems can feel complex, overwhelming, and difficult to navigate — especially during times of stress or transition. Housing Readiness provides clear, practical education and information sessions to help participants better understand their options, rights, and responsibilities.
This program focuses on building awareness, strengthening advocacy skills, and supporting informed decision-making so women can take meaningful steps toward achieving and maintaining safe, stable housing.
Participants receive essential information and guidance on:
Landlord and tenant rights and responsibilities
Rent-Geared-to-Income (RGI) housing applications and processes
SPP (Special Priority Program) housing information
Rent Bank resources and financial assistance options
Eviction prevention strategies
Housing search tools and techniques
Budgeting basics to support housing stability
Understanding housing updates and application follow-ups
The sessions provide space for questions, clarification, and discussion in a supportive, respectful environment.
