Studies have shown that companies that support volunteering efforts of their employees have lower staff turnover rates, and stronger relationships between colleagues.
Volunteering promotes trust and camaraderie by building a sense of community among employees as they work toward a common goal. Among corporate volunteer managers, 97% report that service builds teamwork internally. And volunteers think so too: 78% of say engaging in service improved their communications skills, 73% report they wish their company did more to support social causes/issues, and 3 out of 4 employees want to get involved in their company’s cause-related efforts. Companies with the highest employee engagement also enjoy a nearly 20% average increase in their operating income over those with lower scores!
… so, if you’re ready for a corporate volunteer day for your team, look no further!
Our community has a long history of supporting Women’s Habitat in funding, fundraising, and labour support. Whether it’s sorting, cleaning, building, deliveries, shopping, gardening, cooking and more – the people who donate their time are an invaluable resource that bring our programs and services to life, and change the lives of those affected by violence and poverty right in our backyards.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
In your own facility, we are always in need of toy drives (which can be year-round as our holiday demand typically outpaces our December donations). But you can also host your own third-party fund-raising events for the vital funds required to keep our organization going. You can plan all kinds of things like:
- Baking Competition Day / Bake Sale
- Pancake Breakfast
- Office Jargon Jar
- Donation Matching Campaign
- Dress-Up/Dress-Down Days
- Elective Fitness/Arts etc Activities
- Auction for Items Like Vacation Days
But if you’re ready for a field trip, we are now able to host people in our Outreach and Shelter facilities in small groups as well! We ask for a donation (amount of your choosing) as your “cost of entry” and we can work with you to arrange a full or half day of connection and collaboration.
To make arrangements, or even learn more and collaborate on ideas, please reach out to us!
