Girlfriends- Session 1
Girlz Space is a free after-school program for girls in Grades 6–8, offering a safe and welcoming environment where participants can connect with peers from South Etobicoke and build meaningful friendships. The program runs throughout the school year and takes place on Mondays and Fridays, providing consistent support and community during an important stage of development.
Adolescence can be a time of change, self-discovery, and social pressure. Girlz Space creates a supportive space where girls can show up as they are — without judgment — and explore their strengths in a positive, empowering setting.
The program offers a wide range of engaging activities designed to:
- Boost self-confidence and self-expression
- Reduce feelings of isolation
- Promote emotional wellness
- Strengthen social and communication skills
- Encourage teamwork and leadership
- Foster healthy peer relationships
Through creative projects, group discussions, cooking, games, and skill-building activities, participants develop confidence, resilience, and a stronger sense of belonging. The program is facilitated using a trauma-informed approach, ensuring emotional safety and allowing each girl to participate at her own comfort level.
Girlz Space helps young participants build connections, discover their strengths, and feel more secure in who they are — both within themselves and within their community.
