Girlz Space – Session II
Girlz Space is a free after-school program for girls in Grades 6–8, providing a welcoming and supportive environment where participants can connect with other girls from South Etobicoke. The program runs throughout the school year and takes place on Mondays and Fridays, offering consistent structure and community during a formative stage of development.
This program creates a safe space where girls can build friendships, express themselves, and explore their strengths in a positive and encouraging setting. Early adolescence can bring social pressures, questions of identity, and feelings of isolation. Girlz Space aims to counter these challenges by fostering belonging, confidence, and connection.
Through a wide range of engaging activities — including creative projects, group discussions, cooking, wellness activities, and collaborative games — participants develop:
-
Self-confidence and leadership skills
-
Healthy communication and teamwork
-
Emotional awareness and resilience
-
Positive peer relationships
-
A stronger sense of community and belonging
Facilitated using a trauma-informed approach, the program prioritizes emotional safety, respect, and choice. Each participant is encouraged to engage at her own pace, building skills and connections in ways that feel supportive and empowering.
Girlz Space helps girls strengthen their sense of identity, reduce feelings of isolation, and develop the confidence and skills needed to navigate school, friendships, and everyday challenges with greater ease.
